Jim: Captain Conger?

Post  flounder on Sun Aug 24, 2008 11:37 am

A good trip all round - the weather stayed fine, and we started catching conger, pretty much from the first drop. We all had eels, and our knot tying skills were tested to the limit (and beyond)! Steve also picked up a bonus 5.5lb bass and missed a porbeagle (at least we'd like to think it was a porbeagle - it might well have been an ambitious dogfish Laughing - ask him about the pouting autopsy!).

Congratulations to Jim on catching his first 40lb+ eel - mission accomplished!! To say he was happy would be an understatement - next stop the Conger Club? However, this was mere strap compared to the 55lb fish that Steve managed to winkle out of the wreck.

The only downside was that three of our number didn't make the trip - not a good one to miss lads!

Of course, there was wall-to-wall sunshine all day with just a light breeze to keep us cool and the Dinky Doo done themselves proud again.

I brought the camera along but the action was so hectic, I didn't have time to use it.
